Round Rock, Sports Capital of Texas? Game on!

Soon, Teravista residents can add all kinds of sports to the growing lists of activities available within minutes of their front doors.

In an ambitious campaign to brand Round Rock as "The Sports Capital of Texas," the City of Round Rock has announced plans to build an approximately 60,000-square-foot indoor sports stadium to host activities such as volleyball, basketball, martial arts, cheer competitions, and wrestling and horseshoe tournaments.

Valued at an estimated $38 million, the facility is planned to be built near Cypress Semiconductor and McNeil Park. It would add to a list of other Round Rock venues including Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express baseball team, and 570-acre Old Settlers Park, which has 12 tennis courts, seven soccer game fields, 25 baseball and softball fields and much more.

According to the Round Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, Round Rock already enjoys a stellar reputation with tournament directors throughout the United States, and the indoor stadium will extend the months of the year during which the city could host sporting events.  Another part of the master plan is to expand the footprint of historic downtown Round Rock by adding more restaurants, shops and entertainment venues to attract visitors.
