Georgetown has perfect July 4th with free concert, fireworks
Thursday, July 3, 2014
No need to drive far to enjoy the perfect July 4 this year, because Georgetown has a great free concert on tap, followed by a dazzling display of fireworks.
Part of the Music on the Square summer concert series, the July 4 concert will feature Jo Ellen & A Box of Chocolates playing great rock & roll favorites from the past. This free concert takes place on Courthouse Square in downtown Georgetown. Picnics are welcome (no glass please) or enjoy a pre-concert dinner at one of more than 20 downtown restaurants.
The concert is from 6:30 ‘til 8:30 – perfect timing for heading over to nearby San Gabriel Park to enjoy the spectacular fireworks finale of SERTOMA’s 30th annual July 4th celebration. Beginning at 9:30, the finale caps a full day of free family fun that starts at 11 a.m.
In fact, if you’d like to make a full day of it, head over to San Gabriel Park earlier to enjoy arts and crafts, food vendors, live music, kid’s games and a petting zoo. A special highlight is the Hometown Parade at 12 noon, featuring Miss Georgtown.
