The holiday season is in full swing, and there are plenty of events and activities to enjoy near Teravista. Here are a few of our top picks in Round Rock and Georgetown, plus a few from around Austin. If you know of some we haven’t included, please tell us about them in the Comments!
The 4th annual Rock’N Lights Holiday Light Tour is a spectacular drive-through light show with 2 million lights twinkling along a 1.5-mile route. The all-new displays are bigger and better, including an extended light tunnel. After the light tour, enjoy Christmas Towne, featuring more lights, carnival rides, a light maze, holiday food and much more. It runs through Dec. 26 at the Old Settlers Park.
Georgetown has created a special holiday website with all the info you need on attractions including thousands of holiday lights twinkling on one of the most beautiful town squares in Texas. This website also has details on Georgetown museums, live music and arts events, plus a local holiday shopping and dining guide.
Round Rock Arts invites you to its 3rd Annual Holiday Model Train Show in the ArtSpace gallery in quaint historic downtown Round Rock. Admission is free, and the show continues through Jan. 2.
For a real train ride, take the vintage North Pole Flyer, departing from the Cedar Park Depot through Dec. 20. This 2.5 hour excursion features Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, hot chocolate, cookies, storytelling and more in festive decorated railway cars.

One of the area’s biggest and most festive holiday events is the Austin Trail of Lights in Zilker Park, Dec. 8-22. Don’t miss this family favorite, featuring live performances, food and drinks from some of Austin’s most popular restaurants, carnival rides and millions of colorful twinkling lights.
Also in Austin, there’s Ice Skating on the Plaza at the Whole Foods Market on Lamar and 6th Street, daily from 10 a.m. ‘til 9 p.m., through Jan. 9.
