Lifestyle sold the Taylors on Teravista – now they’re sharing love of community with others

Since moving to Teravista from California in 2012, Jason and Cindy Taylor have become one of the community’s most visible couples, running a thriving real estate business and publishing the popular newsletter, Teravista Today.
It was the Taylor’s experience living in another Newland community, 4S Ranch in San Diego, that initially drew them to Teravista. Four years later, they’re finding Teravista a great place to raise their two children. “Being residents of 4S Ranch, we knew how well-planned, well-maintained and family-focused the community was. 4S was like its own little town, with everything we needed all within, or just outside, the community,” says Cindy.
She said the family was drawn to Texas, and to Austin in particular, for the opportunity to raise their family in smaller and slower-paced city. They also saw the move as an opportunity to start their real estate business in a growing town. After deciding to focus on Austin, Jason came across a magazine promoting Newland's communities throughout the country. “From everything we saw about Teravista, it was evident that much of the same lifestyle, amenities and conveniences we loved at 4S Ranch were also offered here, and then some,” Cindy says.
Teravista “checked off all the boxes” on the Taylors’ search for a new home. That included finding a home in their price range, with a golf course homesite on a cul-de-sac street. The family’s affection for Teravista has only gotten stronger over the years.
For Jason, the community’s proximity to I-35 North, SH 130 and the airport helps him build the family’s growing real estate business, part of Realty Austin.
Cindy loves the many nearby options for stores, restaurants, schools and entertainment venues. She also appreciates that the kids have many chances to play in open spaces and participate in organized sports.
After moving into their new home at Teravista, the Taylors hit the ground running to build their business with Realty Austin. Jason worked with buyers and sellers, and Cindy handled the marketing side of company as she cared for their two young children. “I taught myself how to use graphic design software, mostly in between feedings and during the kids' nap times, and started to design a newsletter,” she says.
That newsletter, Teravista Today, has become a must-read lifestyle blog for residents of Teravista and nearby community. Now in its fourth year, Teravista Today has never missed a monthly issue, and the print edition is distributed to 5,000 households. A popular mobile app has also been added.
Today, the Taylors help more than 50 families a year buy and sell homes. What do they tell prospective buyers about their own community of Teravista? “Location is everything. If you're looking for a neighborhood that is close to absolutely everything, then Teravista is the place to be,” Cindy says. “We believe we moved to Teravista for a reason, and part of that was to help our clients achieve their real estate goals and to cultivate a strong sense of community in the neighborhood in which we live and work.”
