New middle school for Teravista opening next August
Thursday, September 15, 2016
Starting next August, Teravista’s middle school students will attend the Georgetown Independent School District’s brand-new George Wagner Middle School, located on Rockride Lane, just a few miles from Teravista.
This new 170,000-square-foot school is named in honor of George Wagner, a Georgetown resident who has served as a mentor and volunteer for GISD since 1997. He has also been involved with local nonprofit organizations including Brookwood in Georgetown, HeadStart and the Boys & Girls club.
Highlights of this new state-of-the-art school will include 10 tennis courts, an eight-lane all-weather track, and football and soccer fields.
With most of Teravista’s newest neighborhoods located in GISD, students also attend George Washington Carver Elementary, opened in Teravista in 2015. They also attend East View High School, which has an overall grade of A- for 2016 from the Children At Risk nonprofit advocacy group.
Parts of Teravista are also located in the highly regarded Round Rock Independent School District, although most neighborhoods offering new homes are zoned to Georgetown schools.
For higher education, Teravista is right across University Boulevard from several colleges and universities, including the Texas State University Round Rock Campus, Austin Community College and the Texas A&M Health Science Center.
